Contrasts

Daring to blend the baroque and the contemporary

The Orchestra’s partners in this are :
Les Agrémens (a baroque orchestra from Namur),
Guy Van Waas (director),
Michel Fourgon (composer)

Beyond the contrast induced by the combined presence of old and modern instruments, this project aims to develop an innovative concept of a “staged” classical concert :
– two orchestras on stage at the same time ;
– the performance actually produced by a director with the aim of “dramatising” the concert, notably including moving the stage, subtle lighting and an original use of wind instruments: challenged in a “wild” way before being integrated progressively into the whole, and most particularly into the final piece;
– an attractive and varied musical programme, which comprises at the same time a kind of “cat and mouse” game between the two orchestras in the classical repertoire, then works from the 20th century which allude to the older repertoire, and lastly a completely new work.
